Mariah the Scientist made a stunning entrance into Houston on Monday night for her To be Eaten tour, clad in a striking silk red dress, bringing an entourage of enthusiasts with her. Despite her recent cancellation due to illness, none of that mattered as this show was a sold-out affair, with Mariah ready to serenade her audience with her fresh voice.
Before Mariah graced the stage, the crowd was treated to the talents of the up-and-coming artist Ryan Trey, whose performance set the perfect tone for the evening. Ryan showcased some of his well-known hits, including “White Crocs” with Jordan Ward, which is currently making waves online, as well as “Ridin 4 U” and “Aint Even Friends,” featuring Mariah. And then, Mariah herself took the spotlight, sending the audience into a frenzy with her elegant red dress and heels, performing tracks from her latest album, “To be Eaten Alive,” such as “Good Times” and “Bout Mine,” including the collaboration “40 days n 40 nights” featuring Vory.
In a heartwarming moment, Mariah paused to rally the crowd to chant “FREE THUG,” a reference to her boyfriend, which they echoed back enthusiastically before launching into their duet “Ride,” with the audience singing along fervently, almost drowning out Mariah’s voice. As the night drew to a close, she made sure to treat her fans to some of her classics like “2 You” and “Spread Thin,” which are personal favorites of mine.
What sets Mariah apart is her genuine connection with her fans. Throughout the night, she engaged with the audience, waving, cracking jokes, and making everyone feel included. It’s a testament to her humility as an artist from Atlanta, showing that her success wouldn’t be possible without her dedicated fan base. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend catching her on tour or at Twogether Land in Dallas, Texas, where she’ll be performing later this month!
