Clouds of smoke filled the room welcoming Yves Tumor to the stage in The Ballroom at Warehouse Live on Thursday night. Dressed like an 80’s rock star, their performance was short of electrifying. Hearing them perform songs I’ve only heard on vinyl or on my phone, was not like your typical concert performance. Yves Tumor delivered every song as an improvement of their already quality recordings. Wrapping feral intensity with shadowy experimental androgynistic classic rock n’ roll, Yves Tumor is a new age rock star! Their show was a masterful essence of a classic 80’s rock show but with a new strange and thrilling twist. Their overall magnetic energy and transgressive wardrobe is what makes Yves Tumor so unique. Fans matched that energy dressed in all black and alternative pieces rocking leather, spikes, and platform boots.
They performed songs like “Gospel for a New Century”, “Kerosene!” and “Fear Evil Like Fire”. The set list was a perfect blend of 21st century indie with just the right amount of 80’s metal and punk rock aggression. If traditional metal is too much for your taste, don’t hesitate to check out an Yves Tumor’s show, you will have a safe space to rage and bump your head to.
