After a standout performance at iHeartRadio’s Jingle Ball in Dallas, Wonho kicked off his first U.S. fanmeet tour, “Welcome Back Wenee,” in Houston. The beauty of a general admission show is that fans can choose their spot in the pit based on how early they arrive. And fans, known as “Wenee,” were eager to secure the best spots, with some arriving as early as 5:00 AM!
As with any great fanmeet, there were exclusive packages available for fans to enjoy an intimate meet-and-greet with Wonho before the show. These packages included individual photos, group shots, merch gifts, a commemorative lanyard, and even special cocktails at Warehouse Rise named after Wonho’s top tracks.
The venue was buzzing with excitement, packed with fans eager for the show. Wonho completed his mandatory military service on September 4th and made a quick return to the studio and stage. Since this was the first stop of the tour, there were no spoilers, adding to the anticipation of what was to come.
When the lights dimmed and the stage filled with dancers, Wonho made his grand entrance, walking to the center as the English version of “Open Mind” began to play. The song, from his mini album Love Synonym #1: Right for Me, is a sexy, groovy track that highlights his versatility as an artist. Wonho immediately followed up with two more songs, “Ain’t About You (feat. Kiiara)” and his latest single “What Would You Do.”
After warming up the crowd, Wonho greeted his fans, expressing his happiness to be in front of them. Switching between English and Korean, with the help of his translator, he made sure to connect with everyone in the venue.
Wonho’s attire—a custom black suit with a cropped white button-up and black tie—perfectly showcased his well-known masculine figure, while his sparkling black microphone added the perfect touch. Before continuing with the performances, Wonho treated the crowd to a special segment where he cover-danced to popular K-pop songs, including tracks by Aespa, NewJeans, and Kiss Of Life. The highlight came when fans cheered for him to perform Kiss Of Life’s “Sticky” again, singing it a cappella to get him to dance once more!
The show continued with more incredible performances, including “Come Over Tonight,” “WITH YOU,” the English version of “Lose,” and a heartfelt VCR showing a behind-the-scenes look at Wonho’s tour preparations. After taking a moment to express his gratitude for Wenee’s support, he left the stage to prepare for the final part of the show.
Returning in his tour merch, Wonho delivered emotional renditions of “Losing You,” a fan favorite ballad, and “Somebody,” causing the crowd to become even more emotional as the lightsticks glowed brighter. Though it seemed like the show was nearing its end, Wonho surprised fans with additional performances of “No Text No Call,” “CRAZY,” and “WENEED,” interacting closely with the crowd. He even took a fan’s cowboy hat, splashed water into the crowd, and waved a customized Texas flag made by Wenee.
This unforgettable night marked a special moment for both Wonho and Wenee, and we can’t wait to see Wonho perform on even bigger stages in Houston in the future. Check out our full gallery below to relive the night!
