Twenty One Pilots Brings The ‘Ice’ To Houston

After a long hot Texas summer, Twenty-One Pilots chilled Houston out Wednesday night on their highly anticipated ICY Tour. Opening with Houston native Peter McPoland, these two acts definitely did not have any issues bringing in a massive crowd to the Toyota Center. If you’ve seen Twenty-One Pilots before, you know each tour somehow out-does the one before that and seems to always find a way to get more and more creative.

The night started with the wildly talented, 21-year-old Peter McPoland blasting the arena with ‘Shit Show’.  The whole crowd was already pumped up and screaming along with him which made his energy even more intense and exciting by running back and forth from both sides of the stage. He often spoke directly to the crowd stating how absolutely thrilled he was to be right there in his hometown amongst many of his former classmates and friends.  It couldn’t have been any more obvious how proud and accomplished he was feeling in that moment, it was inspirational to see.

Between sets, audience members anxiously awaited the rise of the stage’s black curtain. The lights finally went dark – the stage opened welcoming Twenty-One Pilots’ Tyler Joseph and Josh Dunn to the stage, immersing the crowd in their icy wonderland universe. Starting off with ‘Good Day’ the arena filled with bubbles flying over us all, instantly putting everyone’s hands in the air and ready for the ride. The night consisted of so many badass things it’s hard to even sit here and explain it all. I’m talking bubbles, confetti, trumpets, ukuleles, smoke coming out of their familiar full-face ski-masks, jumping into the crowd, mattress surfing through the crowd and even drumming ON TOP of the crowd while fans supported the drum kit. There wasn’t one song played without some sort of experience or craziness along with it, and let me just add here, Twenty-One Pilots played a whopping 26 songs! These guys continue to show how much they are determined to give their fans, called the “Skeleton Clique,” the experience of a lifetime no matter what it takes. That right there just makes me truly appreciate them even more. Twenty-One Pilots continue to show that they are seriously creative mastermind individuals and they are definitely not stopping anytime soon.
