On the day of his 29th birthday, shortly after the successful sell-out release of his latest collaborative Nike shoe, Travis Scott has announced the 3rd annual Astroworldfest. Tickets go on sale Wednesday May 5 at 10:00 AM and will be the artists first US performance since the Covid-19 lockdown. This will also be the first major music festival to be held inside the Houston city limits since the cancellation of The Houston Rodeo in early March 2020.
The festival aims to tie in with release of the artists forthcoming album Utopia and while little information is given, the theme “Open your mind to a whole new universe” leads us to believe that we will once again be taken into a new world and atmosphere created by Scott. Another new change to the festival is the addition of an extra day. Astroworldfest became “the largest single-day artist-curated music festival in the US” in 2019 and will now push on to the stages of a multi-day event.
With no lineup announced, it’s hard to contemplate the artists that will be performing. In 2019 Scott took fans by surprise with the less than 24-hour-notice announcement of the festival’s lineup, and with it to include performances by the likes of Marilyn Manson and other artists who do not fall into the same hip-hop genre as Scott and the rest of the acts.
