Monday night after a long work day for many, Houstonian’s were blessed with another awesome tour consisting of three powerful female fronted bands ‘The Pretty Reckless’, ‘The Warning’, and ‘Lilith Czar’. House of blues hosted the night ahead and as drinks were pouring, fans from all over Texas were getting comfy and gathering around for what was in stored for the hours to come, and as a huge ‘The Pretty Reckless’ fan myself, I was also eagerly excited to get the night started.
‘Lilith Czar’ was first up on stage and I was immediately drawn to her voice, I’ve heard of her several times but never got around to checking out her music for whatever reason, but holy moly… This girl can sing! Not only did she have the voice but her whole vibe was awesome, the stage decorated in flowers and the pink and purple stage lights really brought out a relaxing type atmosphere. At one point she yelled to the crowd to sing along with her to ‘Stevie Nicks’ Edge of Seventeen. Not many can pull off covering that song, in my opinion, so I was a little weary at first, but she completely nailed it. I was extremely impressed to say the least.
Next up was Mexican rock band ‘The Warning’ The three wickedly talented Villarreal sisters stormed the stage and completely bumped the mood with high energy and raging screams. These girls already had a pretty decent sized fan base but I can guarantee you they gained an even bigger following after Mondays show. The crowd was so drawn to them, everyone was jamming out throughout the entire set especially during their cover of ‘Metallica’s Enter Sandman. I was honestly amazed at how they took that song and made it their own. ‘The Warning’ girls may be young but they are definitely pros and nothing beats the energy they deliver on stage; I mean look at the photos below and see yourself.
Finally, the moment many were waiting for, ‘The Pretty Reckless’ jumped on stage and it was really time to rock n roll. Starting off with ‘Soundgarden’s’ Loud love, another astounding cover to add to the night. With the killer voice of Taylor Momsen and the obvious talented musicians backing her (Ben Phillips, Jamie Perkins, and Mark Damon) This band was ready to blow everyone away… I swear right when the lights came on, everyone in the venue screamed at the top of their lungs when they saw Taylor come out from behind the curtain. She brings out pure fire in her fans and really enjoys every moment on stage. Each song showcased Taylors intense vocals along with its very own passionate performance and really only proves that she’s one of the best female vocalists in metal.
