Led by co-founders Chris Robinson and brother Rich Robinson, The Black Crowes delivered a high-energy spectacle that captivated from start to finish. Chris’s vocals remained consistently passionate, anchoring the band’s dynamic sound. Although his onstage presence may have mellowed compared to previous tours, his vocal prowess remained undeniable. Don’t get me wrong, he still danced around on stage and would occasionally lift up his mic stand as a compliment to his moves ! Surprisingly, Chris’s usual banter with the audience was noticeably minimal during this show, a departure from past performances. Nevertheless, the music spoke volumes, with standout performances of new tracks like “Wanting and Waiting” and “Rats and Clowns” showcasing the band’s continued creative vigor.

The setlist spanned the band’s extensive discography, including several tracks from their latest album, Happiness Bastards. From gritty rockers like “Bedside Manners” to soulful ballads like “Thorn In My Pride,” each song added a layer to the sonic tapestry of the night. The stage setup, reminiscent of an old-style carnival, provided a visually stunning backdrop for the band’s performance. String lights and guitar amps enhanced the atmosphere, complementing the music with a touch of classy grunge.

As the night drew to a close with a blistering cover of the Velvet Underground’s “White Light/White Heat,” it was evident that The Black Crowes still had plenty left to offer.
