Teyana Turns up the Heat at Rise Rooftop

When you arrived at Rise Friday night, the line was wrapped around the building and down the street with fans eager to see Teyana Taylor perform one last time. Taylor kicked of her farewell tour on November 7 and made her sold-out stop in Houston, November 12. Those lucky enough to snag a ticket were in for a steamy night as the super-talented Taylor performed a collection of her hits synced along with choreographed dances and an array of wardrobe changes.

Taylor brought out her daughter for a special performance and she later returned to comfort her mother during an emotional montage of media clips where other artists noted Taylor’s talents. Taylor had confirmed she’s going into retirement after years of feeling overlooked, under-appreciated, and overwhelmed by the music industry, specifically from her label, Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music.

Taylor was emotional as the night came to a close, her fans chanted her name multiple times throughout the night with the last time being the loudest. After her performance ended, the crowd filed out of the building as those with a special VIP ticket were treated to a meet-and-greet where they were able to get a picture with a masked-up Taylor. Many artists have stopped interacting with their fans on a one-on-one level due to covid but Taylor made sure she had time for each one of them, appreciating those who have truly appreciated her.
