Testament and Kreator Bring the Thrash to White Oak Music Hall

In a sweaty, dimly lit room on a Friday evening, the sounds of thrashing guitars and pounding drums fill the air and escape into the cool Fall night. It was an old-school metal kind of night, with legendary Bay Area thrash bands, Testament and Possessed, and German thrash icons Kreator taking the stage.

Hitting the stage of White Oak Music Hall’s downstairs space, the trio of metal bands brought out much of Houston’s thriving metal scene. First up was Possessed, with an electrifying set that set the tone for the rest of the show.

Kreator was next, with a stage setup that included three massive inflatable demons that stood behind the band. Kreator burst onto the stage with unmatched energy, sending the crowd into a frenzy with repeated instructions to open up the pit.

With co-headlining duties on the tour, Kreator played for just over an hour before ceding the stage to Testament.

Emerging through smoke, Testament took the stage near 10PM, playing exclusively older hits and deep cuts. The crowd continued to mosh and thrash with reckless abandon as the night went on. Testament kept the energy in the room high for the entirety of their set, closing out the show with “Into the Pit”.
