Slipknot Returns to Houston Reuniting Metal Fans on Their Knotfest Roadshow Tour

A wave of metal fans gathered at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion on October 29th, 2021 to
witness the iconic metal band Slipknot on one of their final stops of the Knotfest Road show. A
sold out arena welcomed the masked nine, Code Orange, FEVER 333, and Killswitch Engage.

Before the band took the stage, VIP guests were given the chance to experience an interactive
memorabilia museum displaying the band’s artistic evolution. Shelves showing band members’
evolution of their masks over the years were displayed. A heartwarming section dedicated to
late member Joey Jordison’s pearl drums had fans in awe. Shawn “Clown” Crahan’s display of
baseball bats was also a fan favorite. The cage featured in the cover art for the album that
started it all, “Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.” was showcased giving long time slipknot fans a feeling
of nostalgia. Some of the bands awards such as “best video”, presented for the hit
“Psychosocial”, “best metal performance-2005” awarded for “Before I forget” and also many
displays of the bands gold and platinum selling records including self titled album “Slipknot” and
“Vol. 3: (The subliminal Verses)”, were proudly exhibited. Once exiting the museum, fans were
able to hold and play band members’ signature instruments. Jay weignbergs drum set gave fans
a first hand experience in the art of his expertise, while Jim Root’s Signature Jazzmaster
displayed the power in the strings of the bands unique sound.

The lights dimmed and fans, or as the band calls them, “maggots”, filled the arena with cheers.
“Unsainted”, from the band’s no. 1 album, We Are Not Your Kind, started off the show. “We’ve
given you 22 years, and as long as you keep coming back we’ll give you 22 more!.” front man
Corey Taylor said as he pumped up the crowd and welcomed first timers to this epic show.
As the show continued, an array of astounding visual effects and set list kept fans on their heels
building anticipation for what was to come next. Long time hits like “Wait and Bleed”, and
“Before I Forget” and new No. 1 hits “Solway Firth”, and “All Out Life” had fans singing along
with Taylor as he made interactive cues with the crowd. “It’s something about the fans of this
genre of music that makes us the greatest,” he stated.

Closer to the end of the show, Shawn “Clown” Crahan added his spunk to the set. The band
began to perform “Duality”, while Crahan greeted the crowd with a flaming torch for his
percussion cues in the song. Fans were ecstatic at the act.
A long and memorable show ended with an encore of two songs off Slipknot’s self-titled album,
one from the iconic Iowa record and a tribute to late members Joey Jordison and Paul Gray.
Maggots left the Pavilion with feelings of unity and satisfaction.
