Sinéad Harnett Serenades Houston All Night Long With Her “Boundaries Tour”

It’s always an amazing feeling to see another artist sell out any venue during their tour. The Bronze Peacock at House of Blues is known for it’s intimate performances which give fans a unique experience to really be up-close and personal with their favorite artists and bands. On September 3rd, Houston marked the halfway point of The Boundaries Tour featuring the UK-born and L.A.-based R&B singer Sinéad Harnett. The half-Thai and half-Irish songstress released her album, “Boundaries,” earlier this year in April, which she refers to as a love letter to her inner child.

To help set the scene a little bit, picture a small room packed with R&B fans anxiously awaiting the arrival of our English queen. Fans were welcomed to soft, dreamy and calm melodies of East London singer, Hamzaa. She was the perfect compliment to the tour and eloquently set the scene, injecting the crowd with a hybrid medley of upbeat R&B vibes, while soothing us gently with her falsettos.

Before Sinéad took the stage, let’s paint the imagery. The stage is small, but simple. Imagine a 2-man band consisting of a drummer to the left and an electric guitarist to the right with a keyboard set-up in the front right. The projector screen is showing what appears to be a sunset over the ocean, filling the entire room with beautiful hues of orange, pink and yellow. For any musical lovers reading, it was very reminiscent of the cover art from “Miss Saigon.”

The show kicked off with a recording of the “Intro” from the album, then proceeded to the following track, “Shoulder.” Out walks the stunning Sinéad dressed in a sporty and sexy fit featuring what appears to be a custom black top that gave a TLC “No Scrubs” music video vibe over a white tube top, light gray baggy pants, and black boots.

She sang a few songs off the newest album before switching over to a few hits off her previous albums, “Ready Is Always Too Late” and “Lessons in Love.” One of the most memorable things she said that evening was, “We don’t move backwards, we only move forward.” During the middle of the set, Sinéad and her guitarist transitioned into a 4-piece acoustic set with a medley of songs including, “Stay,” “Heal You,” “Hard 4 Me 2 Love You,” and “Downtown.” Afterwards, Sinéad conversed with the crowd, and said, “We all deserve to be loved. Maybe life is about learning to love ourselves so that we can let the love in.” She then proceeded to sing “Burn.”

Another fan favorite moment was when she covered Aaliyah’s “Are You That Somebody.” One has to ask, what R&B enthusiast doesn’t appreciate or get excited when that song comes on?! Also, it’s worth noting Sinéad did not shy away from showing us some sultry choreography during the night. We saw your moves all the way from the back, girl! At one point she even hit a sideways glide across the stage that was undeniably smooth as hell! Towards the end of the show, Sinéad showed us something that not too many artists do, which is start off with the acoustic version of a song then jump right into an upbeat electronic remix version of the same song which she did with “Unconditional.” By then, she gestured to the crowd to start jumping up and down with the disco ball in full rotation in the center of the room.

Following that, we come to the end of the evening, and no show is complete without an encore. Everyone in the crowd was anxiously waiting to hear the song that infamously won over millions back in 2016, which was “If You Let Me.” For the entirety of the song, Sinéad stood on top of a white box in the center of the stage which gave everyone a perfect view of her beauty, grace and vocal prowess. If you didn’t get to frequent shows like you may have been accustomed to in the past, attending this one was definitely worth your while. It’s highly recommended you check out the rest of the tour if you have the chance! Following the US tour, Harnett has a European tour as well so you may want to grab those tickets while you still can!

In the words of Sinéad Harnett, “Boundariesbaybeee.”
