Seventh Shutout of the Season for the Houston Dynamo FC

Houston Dynamo FC secured their seventh shutout of the season with a 0-0 draw against Los Angeles Football Club at Shell Energy Stadium on September 7, 2024. The Dynamo dominated possession with 68.3% and had several close chances throughout the match. Forward Ibrahim Aliyu led the team in attempts during his 27th league appearance, while Captain Hector Herrera created the most opportunities.

The Dynamo hosted their Military Appreciation Night to honor all past and present service members.

Houston’s best early chance came in the 21st minute when midfielder Amine Bassi’s close-range shot went just over the bar. Striker Ezequiel Ponce, starting his fourth game since joining, forced LAFC goalkeeper Hugo Iloris into a diving save shortly after. Herrera’s powerful shot from outside the box in the 26th minute and a near miss from Ponce with a header in the 87th minute were also significant moments.

The match ended goalless despite Houston’s efforts, including a free kick from Herrera in the 81st minute and a crucial save by Iloris. The Dynamo will next play at home against Real Salt Lake on September 14 and face Vancouver Whitecaps FC on September 18.
