Shortly after a successful co-headline tour with Poppy, alternative rock band PVRIS (pronounced PARIS) made their way back to Houston on July 5th.
Alternative rock band PVRIS took the stage at House of Blues Houston for an immaculate performance to celebrate their latest album EVERGREEN in 2023. The band started in 2009 as Operation Guillotine, and later changed their name to PVRIS in mid-2010s. Currently, the band consists of lead singer Lynn Gunn as its sole member.
As the lights dimmed at the venue, Lynn Gunn took the stage, where she immediately hyped up the crowd with new tracks “GOOD ENEMY” and “ANIMAL.” Gunn expressed her gratitude for her fans allowing her to continue touring, and that Houston was one of her favorite cities to stop in. On top of performing tracks from EVERGREEN, Gunn also included classic PVRIS hits such as “Mirrors,” “Nightmare,” “Same Soul” and “What’s Wrong.” The singer also performed newer self-released singles “Oil & Water” and “Burn the Witch,” which are subsequently from a future project titled F.I.L.T.H. PVRIS ended the set with the single “Hallucinations,” followed by an energetic encore featuring the tracks “My House” and “GODDESS.”
Gunn always knows how to deliver an outstanding live performance, especially when each tour is different from the last. With Denny Agosto and Brian Macdonald as the touring musicians for PVRIS, each member helps tighten up the live sound that their known for. Gunn brings an intimate experience to each show, as she continuously belts the lyrics for her songs and often encouraged fans to sing along. The stage visuals was the cherry on top, as the often vibrant strobe lights and stage design added a sense of reality to each live tune. Fans were often singing along, dancing, waving their hands all over, and it generally felt like a safe space.
While the band has concluded their headline tour, PVRIS will be opening for the Smashing Pumpkins this fall – get your tickets and check out future dates here.
