Peso Pluma one of the hottest fastest growing stars in the Mexican Music industry came to Houston on a Friday night for a sold-out show. One of the biggest concerns was whether he would have to cancel his tour due to an ankle injury sustained while performing at Governors Ball in New York. However, he managed to continue with his tour and delivered a phenomenal show despite his condition.
The concert began with a dramatic introduction on the jumbotron, concluding with the phrase, “There’s an antihero among us.” As the anticipation built with fans shouting at the top of their lungs, Peso Pluma emerged onto the platform, seated on a throne. Powerful trumpet flared and played the opening notes of “La Patrulla.” He wore a black mask adorned with diamond-like crystals, embodying the antihero mentioned in the introduction, revealing his face to the crowd towards the end of “La Durango” standing tall amongst the crowd. An incredible entrance that captivated the audience and set the stage for a performance.
Between breaks, the concert featured impressive visuals and lighting effects that enhanced the music. The stage projected elements that reflect Peso Pluma’s style and themes from his music. For example, during one of his songs, “Luna,” the audience was treated to a mesmerizing visual of the moon floating across the venue, creating a magical and immersive experience.
The backup dancers significantly enhanced the concert experience, considering the situation, by adding layers of visual and rhythmic complexity. Their presence ensured that every song was not only heard, but also felt and seen deeply.
Throughout the concert, Peso Pluma sang a mix of his popular hits, such as “Ella Baila Sola” and “AMG,” encouraging the crowd to sing along. His band provided a rich, full sound, complementing his vocals and adding to the atmosphere. He interacted with the audience, cupping his ear to ensure the crowd was still engaged, shouting “¡Que se escuchen Houston!” to each side of the venue to see who was the loudest. This playful interaction kept the energy high and the audience engaged. Peso Pluma surprised the fans by bringing out special guest Estevan Plazola to perform “Hollywood.”
The combination of Peso Pluma’s vocals, the band’s sound, and the dancers’ choreography created an unforgettable show. He closed out the night with two of my favorite songs, “Lady Gaga” and “TEKA” featuring DJ Snake, giving the audience one last opportunity to dance together. Peso Pluma thanked the fans for coming out to the show as he descended back under the stage.
