Oscar Maydon turned 713 Music Hall into a celebration of música Mexicana on his 2025 U.S. tour stop in Houston for his “Rico o Muerto” tour, proving he’s not only carrying the tradition forward but reshaping it for a new era. Backed by a 9 member band, Maydon delivered a high-energy set that balanced classic corridos with bold genre crossovers, keeping the packed crowd on its feet all night.
He set the tone with hits like “Por Las Noches” and “Luna”. The show swerved across styles opening with a slick West Coast beat one moment then melting into familiar corrido territory the next. The night’s rawest energy arrived with “Zaza,” a brash Mexican trap anthem that had Maydon shouting out while the crowd roared back every line. The steez and intensity felt as bold as anything from hip-hop’s prime, showing just how far Maydon is willing to stretch the boundaries of his sound.

Between songs, he spoke candidly about his evolving approach, admitting he’s moving away from the bélico-heavy themes that can’t always find a place on big stages. Instead, he’s aiming for music built on pure energy and party vibes without the baggage, but still rooted in the essence of the genre he grew up with.
The Houston crowd more than embraced that vision. Fans shouted along to anthems like “Tu Boda” amongst other, further proving that Maydon’s gamble is paying off. What could have felt like a risky shift instead turned into a showcase of growth and momentum. At 713 Music Hall, Maydon showed that música Mexicana can evolve, expand, and still hit with full force and Houston was all in.
