ONEUS Delivers a “LIT” Performance in Houston on their Dolce La Vita Tour

In recent years, K-Pop acts have risen in popularity across the country, and Houston has become a key stop on many of their tours. On Friday, April 5th, Houston K-Pop fans took over Bayou Music Center to welcome the K-Pop boy group ONEUS. This marked ONEUS’ third appearance in the city, and as expected, they set the stage ablaze with their performance.

ONEUS is a 5-member group under RBW Entertainment consisting of Seoho, Leedo, Keonhee, Hwanwoong, and Xion. They made their official debut on January 9th, 2019, with the mini-album Light Us. The group’s distinctive style and versatility have enabled them to cultivate their fanbase, known as TOMOON, both in South Korea and internationally. This was apparent in the packed venue, where TOMOON adorned with ONEUS lightsticks and ONEUS merchandise filled the space.

As the lights dimmed and cheers filled the air, ONEUS took the stage to kick off the night with their latest title track “Baila Conmigo,” followed by “ERASE ME,” before introducing themselves to their fans as a group and individually. The group looked stunning in cream-colored silk outfits that flowed with every dance move. After their introductions, ONEUS continued with their performances of “Simulation,” “FULL MOON,” and their debut song “Valkyrie.”

To add some variety to the show, ONEUS briefly exited the stage for a quick costume change, treating TOMOON to a pre-recorded concept video. Upon their return, the group donned white and sky blue silk outfits, delivering mesmerizing performances of fan-favorite songs “LUNA,” “LIT,” “Same Scent,” and “Come Back Home.” During a brief intermission, ONEUS engaged with the fans, inviting three lucky TOMOON to share their favorite ONEUS songs. The responses included “To Be Or Not To Be,” unfortunately not on the setlist, “Twilight,” and “LUNA.”

Leedo then playfully interacted with the crowd, asking what Texans eat to stay energized, sparking a lively discussion. Seoho chimed in, suggesting it must be something unique to Texas, prompting the crowd to enthusiastically shout “Whataburger!” ONEUS chuckled at the unanimous response, revealing that they had eaten Whataburger as a midnight snack the previous night. They also shared their experience of stopping by the iconic Buc-ee’s on their way to Houston from Dallas, where they got to try the brisket sandwich and sugar-coated peanuts. This meaningful intermission led the way for the next segment in which ONEUS asked the crowd to take a seat and enjoy two of the group’s ballads “Epilogue” and “Halley’s Comet” where Seoho impressed the crowd with his five-octave high note.

ONEUS transitioned into more powerful performances of songs like “Bring It On” and “No Diggity” in all-black silk and leather outfits which made the crowd jump and chant in excitement. The choreography for each song was truly captivating! After several performances, Keonhee said he had a very important announcement to make: he lost his wallet. This sparked laughter among the crowd, until Keonhee revealed that the true announcement was simply that the show was drawing to a close. The members took turns expressing their gratitude to the fans for coming to the show and for their unconditional support. ONEUS shared that they only had two more stops left of their tour but they promised to return with new music and improved performances. The members left the stage after bidding farewell, but the fans called them back to the stage for an encore by shouting “ONEUS! ONEUS! ONEUS” repeatedly.

For their final encore, ONEUS returned to the stage wearing their tour t-shirts, except for Xion, who appeared in a Buc-ee’s onesie that everyone found adorable! Interacting closely with fans, they graciously accepted gifts and cowboy hats from the audience. To cap off the night, the members took turns strolling through the venue aisles, engaging intimately with TOMOON by dancing and taking selfies together before saying their final goodbyes.

The energy radiating from both the fans and the group reached new heights on this unforgettable night. ONEUS’ diverse discography, impeccable choreography, and unique fan interactions crafted a truly distinctive concert experience. It was an evening etched in memory for both ONEUS and TOMOON alike, leaving everyone in attendance anticipating the group’s return to Houston.
