On Friday, September 19, NIKI took the stage at 713 Music Hall for a much-anticipated concert that left fans spellbound. The crowd witnessed a stunning performance as the Indonesian R&B-pop sensation effortlessly wove together a show filled with raw emotion, stunning visuals, and vibrant energy.
Before NIKI took the stage, Allison Ponthier graced the crowd with her captivating voice and amazing queer lyrics which included songs “Faking My Own Death”, “Hollywood Forever Cemetery”, “Character Development”, and two newer unreleased tracks called “Handsome” and “Everywhere is in Texas”.
Shortly after, NIKI illuminated the stage lights and began the night with “Too Much Of A Good Thing” immediately captivating the audience with her rich, soulful voice. The crowd was hooked from the first note, swaying and singing along as she transitioned seamlessly into “Colossal Loss” and “Blackburner,” two tracks that showcase her unique fusion of relatable lyrics and infectious melodies. The energy in the room was electric, with fans and many couples feeding off her infectious energy and emotional transparency.
The stage design was simple yet dynamic, with warm hues and atmospheric lighting creating a dreamlike setting. For more upbeat tracks like “High School in Jakarta” and “La La Lost You,” the neon lights and fast-paced rhythms turned the venue into a vibrant dance floor, with the audience completely immersed in the moment.
One of the show’s most intimate moments came during her acoustic cover performance of “Drunk” by Keshi. Accompanied by just her guitar, NIKI’s stripped-down rendition allowed her vocals to shine, filling the venue with a sense of raw vulnerability. NIKI made sure to take the crowd through a musical high as she sang another cover by “The One That Got Away” singer, Katy Perry.
Closing the night with the name behind her tour “Buzz,” NIKI and her band glowed for one final time in reflective vests and left the crowd on a high note, as fans danced and sang along.
