It was a beautiful Monday night in the city of Houston, Texas. Amongst the peaceful city, a crowd of Houstonians gathered together at Warehouse Live for a surprise, free concert, courtesy of Houston’s own Maxo Kream, in support of his newest project ‘Weight of the World.’Â Maxo Kream is one of the most noticeably top artist coming out of Houston with a wide list of projects such as #Maxo 187 and The Persona Tape and it was obvious by the night’s turn out that he has an enormous home town following.Â
The opening DJ started strong by exciting the crowd with tracks from Houston artists like Travis Scott and Playboi Carti and the crowd enjoyed every second of it.
As the time got closer though, the DJs music was no longer enough to satisfy the mass as they could be heard chanting, “Maxo! Maxo! Maxo!” But the DJ continued to tease the crowd with his selection of songs. Then the lights began to dim as the crowds chant grew louder. The crowds chants did not go unheard as Maxo came out on stage with full support of the crowd opening with songs off his new album as a mass of people in his Persona brand clothing bounced in support. Maxo has always had a great following in Houston by the public but he did have a lot of controversy coming up in his career. He explained to everyone that night about the start of his career his show being cancelled at that same venue by HPD. “They tried to tell me I would incite a gang riot” he mentioned. Despite the many walls Maxo has faced, he is still proud to call Houston his home and his appreciation was obvious with tonight’s show being a free event.
The night was filled with great crowd participation and one on one with Maxo speaking to everyone up front and even pulling a few audience members on stage. “This is Blue,” Maxo introduced one of the fans as he prompted him to stage dive for his next song. Another audience member brought up on stage was even sporting an Ankle monitor risking his freedom to support Maxo. “Hey man, lemme tell you, if you get a bond. I’ll bail you out my n****” The night was full of fun and great music by Maxo with classics, ending the night with perhaps his top played song ‘Fetti’ to close the night out. As the track blasted throughout the ballroom, Maxo jumped off of the stage and went straight to the merch booth to take pictures with fans and talk a bit with the crowd on a personal level. It was definitely a great performance all in all and his humbleness was very obvious and love for his fans genuine.
