Houston Dynamo FC fell 2–0 at home to Los Angeles FC in a heated early-season Major League Soccer clash at Shell Energy Stadium during the their second match of the season on February 28, 2026. The match remained tight through the first half, with both teams struggling to generate clear chances despite energetic play in midfield. Houston looked organized defensively early on, while LAFC couldn’t quite find a breakthrough before halftime.

LAFC eventually broke the deadlock midway through the second half when Mark Delgado gave LAFC a 1–0 advantage. The goal shifted the momentum firmly toward Los Angeles, who continued to press forward and control possession. With Houston pushing to respond, LAFC added a decisive second goal in the 82nd minute through Stephen Eustáquio, effectively putting the result beyond reach.

Houston’s task became even more difficult after two players were sent off, leaving the home side with nine men for the closing stages of the match. The reduced lineup forced the Dynamo to focus on damage control rather than mounting a comeback, while LAFC managed the final minutes comfortably. For Houston, the loss was especially painful after a spectacular string of preseason wins shortly followed by a promising season opener.
