Puerto Rican artist Michael Anthony Torres Monge, known as Myke Towers brought his “La Vida Es Una” (There’s Ony One Life) tour to Smart Financial Centre. Myke has risen from amongst other underground reggaeton artists with his sharp lyrics and unique flow that continue to captivate his fans.
To commence the show, he appeared from a V shaped set of screens where he began his set with “Obstaculo“, a hit song he has with fellow paisano Tainy. The latin flame continued his show with his hot hit “Si Se Da”. Myke’s flow on stage was unique- charming all the ladies in attendance. Wearing a fur hat with static visuals performing Latin Grammy nominated feature hit “La Curiosidad” that captivated and energized the crowd for what was going to be an incredible show.
The new-age reggaeton artist wanted to have everyone feel like they were part of the show, working every bit of the stage and gesturing with the crowd he created an intense “perreo vibe” having everyone on their feet and shouting word for word. Let’s not forget how he made all the single ladies feel loved while also appreciating the couples in attendance performing “Pareja del año”, a song with Colombian superstar Sebastian Yatra. This track speaks about falling in love and then out…I might have been in my feels…but the vibes were still on and I was past it…especially after seeing Houston Astros star Jeremy Peña, Luis Garcia and Martin Maldonado in the crowd! Towers acknowledged and thanked them for their support for his art followed up with a switch of tempo the Ladies man he is, Myke performed “Girl” a song in which he sampled 50 Cents “21 questions”. At this point the crowd interaction was at a high peak.
Personally his POV visuals were my favorite- showing his view of the stage and having close up footage projected on the LED screens made it feel like an intimate video call- which of course thousands of people could see. Myke of course gave the opportunity to various girls in the crowd to be able to have a hot perreo session on stage with him, being hyped by the crowd girls shot their shot and definitely got a memory they will not be forgetting as they danced and grinded on stage to a few songs. Across the whole venue fans were on their feet and dancing with their friends and partners most definitely enjoying the presence of Myke Towers on stage.
To finalize the show Myke performed a hot summer 2020 viral hit “La Jeepeta” a remix with fellow reggaeton artists like Anuel AA. You couldn’t leave the venue without listening to his most current sensational global smash hit, ”Lala” off his new and third studio album “La Vida Es Una”. I cannot wait for what 2024 brings from Myke Towers and his return to Houston !
