To say there’s some buzz around Houston Dynamo’s 2025 season, their twentieth, would be a bit of an understatement. After the departure of their star captain, Héctor Herrera, after a rather dramatic season closer which saw the Mexican footballer spit at, or in the general direction of (it’s unclear) the referee after a heated call, the fans are left wondering who the team’s next captain might be. Rumored additions to the team include Paraguayan player Rubén Lezcano and Israeli midfielder Mohamed Abu Fan, each valued at a whopping $4 million (though these are just rumors for now.)
Earlier this month it was announced that Houston Dynamo FC had acquired American midfielder Jack McGlynn from Philadelphia Union in a historic first-ever cash-for-homegrown player trade in league history. The $2.1 million deal made headlines around the world when it was announced and the 21-year-old footballer has been the focus of much of the club’s latest social media activity.

But have you heard? The club’s second home match will be against the MLS titans, Inter Miami. And what might the demand for such a game, presumably featuring inimitable G.O.A.T. of football, Lionel Messi, be at Houston’s beloved Shell Energy Stadium? A quick ticket search revealed some truly jaw-dropping prices. Inter Miami’s Houston game will set customer’s back up to 600% more than a usual game at the stadium. Prices for single tickets in the front and middle sections range from $1,196 to $1,441 at the time this article was written, and in the back they’re averaging around $360. And tickets are going fast, so if you want to see the master before his eventual and inevitable retirement, act fast.
