Emarosa visited Houston on September 12, for the first time in Six years, and made for an unforgettable evening. The band headlined the “American DejaVu Tour,” at the Secret Group, with opening acts Orion 224, Laur Elle, and Val Astaire.
Throughout the years, Emarosa has really become a unique and evolutionary band. The progression has given a new sound that explores the Dream-Pop image, and it has definitely won the hearts of those who listen. A dreamy ambiance complimented the performance, and frontman Bradley Walden’s inimitable voice. The setlist by design lived up to the tours’ name and segmented the best of Emarosa throughout the Decade.
To start off the show, the band opened with favorites from the “Versus” album released in 2014. The Post-hardcore album was a great way to amp up the crowd. It felt like slow movement through different eras of the band, which embraced Emarosa’s longevity. A fan was even heard screaming “I waited 10 years for this!” to which Walden replied, “So have I,” showing his admiration for the love and support.
The 2019 release of “Peach Club” which introduced the new indie/dreamy sound was a transcendent experience to hear live. “Don’t Cry,” and “Cautious” were some personal favorites, and the crowd was moving at a mutually livley pace that kept everyone in sync. To match the atmosphere, the band even covered Whitney Houston’s “I wanna dance with somebody.” It really was a dreamy Thursday night dance party!
Closer to the end of the show, Walden shouted out the tour manager and conducted a happy birthday singalong with all fans in attendance. Along with those thanks and appreciative words, he thanked fans for their support through the years. The night ended on a harmonious note in celebration of a decade of great music.
