LAFC suffered a 1–0 defeat to the Houston Dynamo on April 5, 2025, at Shell Energy Stadium. The match’s only goal came in the 58th minute when Jack McGlynn, a recent acquisition from the Philadelphia Union, scored his first goal for Houston. McGlynn capitalized on a well-timed pass from Griffin Dorsey, cutting inside from the right wing and placing a low shot past LAFC goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Despite a late surge, LAFC couldn’t find the equalizer. Houston goalkeeper Blake Gillingham made a crucial save in the 80th minute, denying a header from Eddie Segura . This loss marked LAFC’s fourth in their last five MLS matches, leaving them with a 3–4–0 record and 9 points in the Western Conference standings.

LAFC head coach Steve Cherundolo rotated several key players, including Aaron Long and Denis Bouanga, to prioritize the upcoming Concacaf Champions Cup quarterfinal against Inter Miami. While this strategy aimed to balance domestic and international commitments, it contributed to LAFC’s struggles in the league.
