With the new installation of a Las Vegas street circuit, an ever trending Miami race, and Austin’s long beloved U.S. Grand Prix, if seems Formula 1’s American fans, old guard and newly obsessed, finally have some real meat to sink their teeth into, without too much traveling, that is. But for Houstonians, the icing on the cake is Red Bull’s upcoming Showrun on September 7th at Discovery Green, featuring F1 legend David Coulthard and rising F3 star Arvid Lindblad. In fact, if you like being part of history, September’s Showrun will mark Lindblad’s very first public appearance in an F1 car!
F1 fans may remember Coulthard from his fifteen seasons in Formula 1. With 62 podiums and 13 victories between 1994 and 2008, the Scottish race car driver made an indelible mark on the sport. Now is your chance to see the world class racer kick up the Houston dust in one of the fastest cars in the world.
Pro drifter Mike Whiddett is slated to wow the crowd with a McLaren P1 Hypercar dressed in a sleek Red Bull livery along with off-road champion Andrew Carlson.
Motorsport isn’t your thing? Not to worry: a special intermission showcase of Red Bull Turn It Up will hosted by rap icon Paul Wall will feature DJ Mr Rogers, DJ Hed, DJ Michael Watts and DJ Chose in an epic DJ battle mid-race that will serve as a preview for the Red Bull Turn It Up event taking place later that night at NOTO with tickets on sale at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/red-bull-turn-it-up-tickets-928512565077.
An all-ages free fan zone will be located inside Discovery Green from 10am to 3pm with loads of activities for spectators, including racing simulators, shopping, and tons of food! Confirmed food trucks for the event are Lupe Tortilla, Crust Pizza, Abu Omar Halal, and Bad Chx.
The event will be emceed by Georgia Henneberry from NBC Sports and Dave Carapetyan, Texas racing expert and founder of Rally Ready, and is sponsored by Cash App, Pirelli, Exxon Mobil, Kroger, and Circle K.
