As Foreigner walked through the curtains they were instantly met with a standing crowd. After just one song I thought the pavilion couldn’t get any louder, that’s until Foreigner started the second off with, “What the fuck is up, Houston!”. The sound seemed to more than triple as they played classic after classic, never missing a beat. And just when I thought It was over they broke out another hit. As “Hot Blooded” appeared on the screen, steam machines filled the stage- this was peak Rock & Roll. By the end of the song everyone was on their feet cheering on Foreigner as they left to make way for Kid Rock.
Kid Rock opened with a prayer full of adrenaline before walking through two red saloon like doors. Once Kid Rock made an appearance you couldn’t escape the rock & roll-itis. The head banging and hip shaking was in full swing and once his initialed saloon doors switched to resemble the American flag, the crowd turned it up a notch. Kid Rock one-upped the crowds energy shooting fireworks from the stage.
Once the energy leveled out Kid Rock played gems such as, “All Summer Long” and “First Kiss”. The relaxed summer rock vibe only lasted a handful of minutes before a Covid mask appeared on the screen. Boo’s quickly filled the pavilion. As quick as they came, they left even faster when Kid Rock played “Tell Me How To Live”.
Kid Rock followed his switch up with “Cowboy” and the sold out Cynthia Woods Pavilion ate it up! From that point on Kid Rock kept them screaming, and although I didn’t know every word- I’ll be honest I screamed too.
