Rising country star Ella Langley proved she’s more than a name to watch during her performance at 713 Music Hall in Houston, delivering a set packed with grit, heart, and Southern charm.
Born in Hope Hull, Alabama, and now signed to Sony Music Nashville/Columbia, Langley first gained attention for her breakout hit “You Look Like You Love Me” with Riley Green, a song that recently topped the country charts. Touring in support of her debut album Hungover (released August 2024), Langley commanded the stage with a confidence that felt both seasoned and raw.
Langley hit the stage draped in a long leopard-print fur coat, exuding unapologetic confidence and powerhouse energy that instantly commanded the room. Opening with a burst of energy, she urged the crowd to give it all they got. The Houston audience did just that, echoing her lyrics and matching her every stomp and shout. Her band kept pace, blending modern country muscle with traditional textures, bursts of slide guitar and pedal steel cutting through the room.
Highlights included anthemic renditions of “You Look Like You Love Me” and “Weren’t for the Wind,” where her storytelling shined. Langley balanced swagger with sincerity, shifting easily from high-octane crowd-pleasers to heartfelt ballads that showcased her voice’s smoky power. Between songs, she shared snippets about her Alabama roots and the road that led her to Texas, deepening the connection with fans who already seemed all in.
Visually, the show matched her dynamic sound with bold lights for the uptempo tracks and warm tones for the quieter moments. While a few transitions felt unpolished, her authenticity and stage presence made up for it.
By the night’s end, Ella Langley had turned a packed venue into a sing-along celebration of modern country’s next big name. With a sound that bridges barroom grit and radio polish, she’s proving that Hungover is only the beginning of a long run ahead.
