A sea of glow sticks filled the Toyota Center as Dude Perfect made their tour stop in the great state of Texas on July 29. Joseph Sojourner, better known as Sojo, narrated the night and before the tour battle commenced he introduced the Dude Perfect gang to Houston.
The five dudes kicked off the hang session by riding scooters around the arena and swishing an assortment of goals. Parents and kids alike went crazy! Moving into the second battle, the dudes were throwing Vortex Nerf Footballs from the rafters. If that wasn’t exciting enough, Cody the Houston native, mentioned he still had a 281 area code which sent the crowd into a frenzy.
The frenzy didn’t stop there, Houston became the center of a heated cookie debate. Ty led the top ten debate and quickly riled up the Toyota Center with one statement- Oreo’s are overated. From there it was a slippery slope as he ranked cookies from tenth to first. What were the top three cookies you ask- Fig Neutons, Chewy Chips Ahoy, and Vanilla Wafers. Outside of Ty and some “Milano Moms”, most of those in attendance agreed his take on cookies was subpar, including the Cookie Monster.
As the night went on so did the fun. There was a trampoline dunk contest, an ostrich egg shower, and even a battle finale with a trophy the size as a statue- that’s before Ty broke it. The finale was between Ty and Cody as they battled to the finish to see who would be crowned king. The final bout included launching tennis balls into the stands, drifting on scooters, shooting basketballs thirty feet into the air, and shooting a gong with an arrow from across the arena. The first one to complete the relay would of course receive the modified trophy. While it’s safe to say Houston was rooting for the hometown hero Cody with comments like, “this is for Clyde Drexler”, it was Ty who Ultimately pulled of the win by striking the gong first. As he receiving his kudos from the crowd and fellow dudes, confetti shot across the stage wrapping up the finale.
All in all it was a superb show. The excitement was there all night from both young and old. I can’t wait for the next Summer Tour and for Dude Perfects’ surprise destination to open in the near future. If you can catch one of their shows I highly recommend it, the dudes were perfect!
