June 25 in Houston was far from a boring day. Every block was filled with festival goers and rainbows as people celebrated Houston’s Pride Parade. But that wasn’t all that was going on that night, with Denzel Curry bringing his Melt My Eyez Tour to 713 Music Hall, supporting his latest project, Melt My Eyez See Your Future, his 5th studio album. Kenny Mason, Redveil, and Playthatboizay got the night started and the crowd warmed up for the main event.
Denzel’s live performances are always a great vibe with people enjoying his smooth flow and unique lyricism. “I got much love for Houston.” He exclaimed. “And me being from Florida, you know what that means? We all South!”
The crowd fed off Denzel’s energy and Denzel masterfully controlled the crowd. Midway through a song he noticed a person collapse. “Hey bro hold up. Hold up! Can we get someone to help them!?” He shouted as the venue medics quickly rushed in. “What about rest of y’all? Y’all good?” He then regained control of the crowd, and got them to form a large circle pit!
As the night continued the crowd got more and more active, and as the energy rose nearing the end of the set, there seemed to be a fight brake out between two people in the front.
“Yo yo yo. Man y’all chill. Y’all chill!” Security rushed to the front immediately grabbing the two people and began to try and escort them out the venue. But that’s where Denzel again showed how much love he has for his fans. “Yo, security don’t kick ’em out, just separate them. Take that dude to one side and the other one on the opposite side. Y’all paid for this and I don’t want y’all missing out on this shit!”
Denzel Curry is guaranteed to put on an amazing performance and is a great experience for hip hop fans to experience and I hope he comes back soon to see what he does next!
