What a time for regional Mexican music! Eslabon Armando’s latest hit “Ella Baila Sola” (“She Dances Alone”) featuring Peso Pluma hit the Billboard Hot 100, the first of its kind to make it on to the top 10 portion of the all genre chart. The track also hit #1 on Billboard’s Latin chart, reached top five on the Billboard Global 200, and spent three days straight as Spotify’s #1 Top Song globally. The song was released on March 17, 2023, and after much traction, found viral success in mid April.
The song tells a tale of two friends talking about a beautiful girl at a party while both trying to find ways to woo her. Eslabon Armando’s lead vocalist, Pedro Tovar, stated in an interview with Billboard that he had no idea this song would become such a big hit. A preview of the song’s success came about after he posted a snippet of it on his Instagram story which spiraled it into a viral TikTok sensation! Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma worked in such synchronized harmony on this track, there’s no surprise why it has become so popular. A plethora of artists creating corridos tumbados, the more specific genre of this track, have entered the music industry in recent years. It is a growing scene and as more artists within it continue collaborating like this, more tracks like these will be heard and appreciated globally.
