D4vd kicks off “Withered” Tour back Home in Houston

There was something poetic about D4vd debuting his new album Withered in his hometown of Houston. Under the glow of stage lights at White Oak Music Hall, the 20 year old alt-pop phenom delivered a haunting, emotionally charged performance that reflected the raw heart of his latest project.

Opening with the album’s first track, “Atomic Land,” D4vd set the tone with somber guitar chords and atmospheric visuals. He opened up with the first songs off the newest record, performing them for the first time live allowing Houston, the city where it all began, unveil the gift of his art. From the very start, it was clear this wasn’t just a concert; it was a living, breathing extension of the album’s themes: heartbreak, disillusionment, growth, and emotional decay.

The setlist leaned heavily into Withered, with standout performances of “You and I,” “Say It Back” and fan-favorite “Crashing.” Each song was like turning a page into D4vds mind allowing the manifestation of his dreams and talents to speak for themselves. While the crowd was engaged, there were moments of stillness throughout the set, allowing D4vd’s voice and the aching emotion behind it to take center stage and everyone’s attention.

But it was the crowd connection that made the night unforgettable. “Being back home makes this mean more,” D4vd said mid-set, his voice cracking slightly. Fans erupted with pride, singing every word back to him when he attributed  his previous project “Petals to Thorns”, with the kind of love reserved for one of their own. A surprise rendition of “Feel It” transformed the packed room into a collective rare moment of intimacy in a soldout venue.

Despite the album’s darker mood, the energy was lively. D4vd moved through the shadows and lights with effortless control, proving he’s as much a performer as he is a poet. His vulnerability; never forced, always genuine—turned every song into a shared wound.

But it wasn’t all heavy emotion. Between songs, D4vd’s laid-back banter reminded everyone he was still the Houston kid who started recording songs in his sister’s closet. He gave shout-outs to his family and opening act “Bryant Barnes” and thanked the city that supported him from the start, creating a warm feeling of pride and gratitude.

As he closed with “Romantic Homicide,” the track that started it all, it really became a full circle moment.  No pyrotechnics. No gimmicks. Just a local kid grown into a global voice, still rooted where it all began.
