Crash World Tour: Kehlani Shakes Things Up at 713 Music Hall

Fresh from their set at Austin City Limits, the inimitable Kehlani packed Houston’s 713 Music Hall on Tuesday night, October 8, with openers Anycia and British girl band Flo. The Crash World Tour celebrates Kehlani’s fourth studio album, of the same name, released in June of this year.

While supporting acts performed in harsh, often bright white stage lighting, and minimal room (the headliner’s stage setup took up most of the stage and was obscured by a curtain) the audience was there to have a good time and didn’t seem to mind.

Strangely, during the opening sets, there were a number of medical emergencies, and fans, packed closely to the barricade, who needed water. A few people were carried out, but eventually the show went on. At roughly 9:30pm Kehlani made their big entrance, atop a set of metal Broadway stairs, bathed in blue light. The translucent curtain dropped away, revealing the band as they played the beginning of “Next 2 You” from their from the tour’s namesake, Crash.

The fans got a taste of Keklani’s newest music as well as their older songs, including “Gangsta” from the Suicide Squad Soundtrack, “Nights Like This” (their 2019 hit featuring Ty Dolla $ign), and “After Hours”; a new crowd favorite from Crash.

The Crash World Tour will continue through the north parts of the U.S. and Canada before ending the year in California. Tickets are available at https://www.kehlani.com/tour.
