Angela Aguilar, the Mexican American singer, gained prominence at a very young age through her incredible vocal talent and the Aguilar family’s legacy in the entertainment industry.
The rising star has embarked on her very first tour, Piensa En Mi, ready to showcase her musical prowess to her fans. She stopped at Houston’s 713 Music Hall on June 17. Her perfectly curated setlist took me by surprise, as this is my first time seeing her perform. As Angela stepped onto the stage, the lights began to glow. The stage was filled with vibrant energy and a live mariachi started to play behind her as she performed ‘Dejame Vivir’ by Rocio Durcal and Juan Gabriel.
One of the many highlights from the concert was her medley of different genres of Mexican music, such as ranchera, mariachi, and bolero, showcasing her range and talent. This carefully selected assortment of styles played homage to her musical heritage. By adding her own spin and style, she created a unique fusion sound that resonates with both older and newer generations.
She brought out a very special guest, her brother, Leonardo Aguilar, to perform their song “Lo Busque”, it was a special moment to see the siblings sharing the stage together.
Her appreciation for her supporters shined throughout the show as she interacted with the crowd, making the concert feel intimate. She talked about romance, her life growing up, and dreaming big to achieve your goals.
Another highlight throught the night was her wardrobe changes to fit each song she sang. She changed into a gold tejana outfit when she performed ‘Amor Prohibido’, ‘Si Una Vez’, and ‘Como La Flor,’ a touching tribute to Selena Quintanilla. She changed into a traditional Mexican dress for her last couple of songs closing out the show with ‘Que Agonia’ and ‘Dime Como Quieres’.
Fans sang along, immersing themselves in the music, with stunning lighting designs, and choreographed performances that enhanced the visual experience and created a beautiful atmosphere. Her charisma and stage presence shows that this tour is a huge milestone in her career, marking her transition from a promising young artist to an influential force in the music industry.
Attending the show not only is an experience but a celebration of culture and the power music has to bring people together. It was an opportunity to witness a young artist in her prime, sharing her passion and leaving a mark on the world of music.
