Anees Brought Some Healing to Houston for his Homesick Tour

Anees is seriously making waves in the music world right now, pulling in millions of listeners from all over the globe and honestly, it’s so well deserved. Born in Washington D.C., Anees Mokhiber used to be an attorney, stuck in a life that clearly wasn’t bringing him joy. So, he took a leap of faith, left law behind, and followed his heart into music. Judging by his success, that leap definitely paid off for him.

After keeping up with him on socials, I found myself totally drawn in by his healing journey, his spiritual vibes, and his poetic approach to life. You can really tell he’s grown into the most authentic version of himself since leaving his old path behind. Since dropping his 2021 single “Slip,” Anees has been skyrocketing as he is now pulling in over three million monthly Spotify listeners and has built a strong following of more than half a million on Instagram.

The night kicked off with R&B singer Jayo, whose soulful voice and feel-good lyrics set such a positive tone. It was awesome to see the crowd vibing with him so hard with hands in the air, singing along, matching his energy. You don’t always see that kind of love for an opening act, but Jayo definitely earned it.

Then Anees came out with his band and absolutely lit up the stage. You could feel the energy shift the moment he stepped out with pure connection, good vibes, and a room full of people dancing and singing like one big community. From the look on his face, I’d say his Houston fans blew him away.

Anees’ music speaks on love, spirituality, and self-growth whee every lyric feels intentional. One standout moment was when he introduced “Drunk on Myself” by saying, “I wrote this song when I was forgetting how to love myself.” That line hit hard, and you could tell it resonated with the crowd. The message of self-love runs through a lot of his music.

His way with words is something else as it’s poetic, raw, and uplifting all at once. No question, I’ll be catching Anees again on his next tour. If his rise continues the way it has, he’ll be filling up major venues in no time.
