The Toyota Center was full with anticipation Monday Night as eager guests awaited the season kick-off of Monday Night Raw. With no scheduled matches announced, anything could happen.
To start things off, WWE Champion Big E greeted the people of Houston to the season premiere of Raw, and was returned a cheerfull chant of “Let’s go Astros!”, from the crowd.
“Wow, “. he remarked, “That was beautiful. I love the energy and I truly wish them the best.” A very nice comment from a non-Houstonian. However the one on one conversation between belt-holder Big E and the crowd was rudely interrupted by a wailing guitar and burst of flames as Henry Rollins entered the stage. Draped in a fancy oversized white coat with a black fur collar and a pair of designer slides, Rollins wasn’t there to fight but to talk. Upset about his controversial loss to Edge earlier this summer, he felt he deserved a fair shot at Big E’s title. But others felt the same as Ray Mysterio, Finn Balor, and Kevin Owen each came to the stage to list off their resume of accomplishments and the reason they deserve the title.
It wasn’t until Owens began to talk down personally to Rollins that finally made Rollins snap and begin his abrupt attack on everyone. After his quick strikes he retreated but was met with WWE Official Sonya Deville who announced that a four way ladder match would take place and the winner would get a chance at Big E’s title.
With ladders scattered around the arena, the match was about to begin. Starting things off quick Rollins immediately struck Kevin Owens and Ray Mysterio with one of the many ladders to remove them from the ring. You could hear the loud smack as it knocked out Mysterio.
A drawn out haymaker exchange between Balor and Rollins gives the two enough time to recover and make their way back in the ring. Owners stops for a moment as the crowd was chanting for the table. He reaches under the ring to an uproar from the crowd and quickly sets up the table. Meanwhile in the ring, Balor slams a ladder on top of a downed Henry Rollins. And as soon as Owens entered the ring Balorn aimed his sites on him and attacked, grabbing ownes and slamming him on top of the ladder that was already on top of Rollins.
Mysterio who sneakily set up a ladder and was making his way to the top was stopped by Balor. Another one on one began, this time on top of a ladder. Rollin recovered and toppled the ladder holding the two contenders leaving everyone back at ring level.
The four way onslaught continued untill Rollins threw Ownens over the ropes and through the single heavy duty ladder onto the ground. With his way clear Rollins made his way to the top and grabbed the card, securing his slot to compete for the championship. Championship hold Big E came out to congratulate Rollins and tell him he looked forward to their match.
