June 12th marked a special place in the hearts of the alternative crowd of Houston. Pierce the Veil brought their âI Canât Hear Youâ Tour to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, along with Sleeping with Sirens and Beach Weather. The bands were welcomed by a sold out crowd that was open and ready to sing their hearts out to timeless anthems they have loved for over a decade.

Many fans have spiralled over this nostalgic tour as the band prospected playing many of their hits from their beginning studio albums, âA Flair For The Dramatic,â and âSelfish Machinesâ which both debuted in the early 2000âs. These songs have not been performed live for years following the band’s hiatus in 2016. Amongst the anticipation of our short travel through these albums, Sleeping With Sirens also tagged along for this tour adding to the depths of our nostalgia and a memorable show to hold on to.
To start off the show, Sleeping with Sirens opened with âKick Meâ, which has been an anthem for the band and its early followers. It has always given fans a upbeat, and positive message that was a perfect way to kick off the show.

Throughout their performance, frontman Kellin Quinn was interactive with fans reminding everyone in attendance that our rollercoaster of emotions was a shared and uniting experience throughout the venue causing a feeling of unity. The set list included songs like âBetter off Dead”, ” Do it Now, Remember it Later,â and ended with the bands most popular song âIf you canât hangâ which created a standing ovation. Through their poetic and heart wrenching lyrics, Sleeping With Sirens gave a performance to remember, and always revisit in our hearts.

Headlining this show, Pierce The Veil came in to prove that their fans show up and show out for the music and artists that they love. The crowd was immersed with creative expression which highlights the alternative community, through edgy outfits, otherworldly graphic makeup and a celestial exchange of energy. This is always a great experience to acknowledge and admire when attending a PTV show, and front man Vic Fuentes expressed this to the crowd whilst opening the show.
First on the setlist was âDeath Of An Executioner,â off of the band’s newest studio album The Jaws of Life. This record created a new coming sound and perspective of the band, allowing them to indulge in a more grunge-like sound that was produced flawlessly. The record became an instant classic, and is well performed live. One of the highlights of the show was the band’s performances of classics from A Flair for The Dramatic and Selfish Machines. âIâd Rather Die Than Be Famous,â made a comeback and everyone in attendance was here for it. With a high tempo, flashing red light visuals, and robust lyrics, this was the perfect addition to the band’s performance.

Midway through their set, PTV brought back a song that was so early in their career causing Fuentes to remark to the crowd, âThis might be too old for any of you to remember.â As the opening guitar chords for âShe Makes Dirty Words Sound Pretty,â began to strum, the crowd screamed in excitement. The theme of this tour was similar to a walk through their eras, and this track definitely lived up to that promise.

âWonderless,â was yet another gem of this performance. This is the final track to the band’s first studio album, and then final gage into our nostalgia from 2006. The track carries a very intense sound full of rage and emotion that was the perfect way to close out this musical chapter. Fuentes commented, âThis is my favorite track off this record,â once closing out the song.
Being that this tour featured a performance from Sleeping With Sirens, it only makes sense that Kellin Quinn joins in for the final act of this show. âKing For A Day,â which grew a resurgence of popularity on social platforms was last but not least on the set list, and the crowd bursted with cheers and explosive energy. This was the cherry on top of a perfect night here in Houston.
