Lawrence visited House of Blues on their A Family Business tour celebrating the release of their fourth studio album. The show was met with an enthusiastic crowd, with energetic performances from both Lawrence and opener Jukebox the Ghost.
Jukebox the Ghost played some of their most popular songs including Under My Skin, Hollywood, and Girl before paying homage to their HallowQueen concerts with a cover of Queenβs Somebody to Love. They ended their set with crowd favorite Fred Astaire.
Lawrence played on the βfamily businessβ theme of their new album throughout their performance, first welcoming their audience to βthe companyβ as a new employee with a video intro. The concert covered the full spectrum of their album, featuring upbeat numbers like Do, Casualty, and Freckles, as well as the more introspective Death of Me. Throughout the show, video interludes gave the audience an inside peek at βthe family businessβ with the βFeatured Employeeβ, bassist Michael Karsh (heβs single ladies), and a behind the scenes with the βAccounting Departmentβ to highlight the bandβs recent success on Capitol Hill (representing independent artists, Clyde Lawrence & Jordan Cohen spoke at a Congressional hearing which ultimately led to LiveNation ending merch fees in smaller venues).
Sibling front runners Gracie and Clyde put the audience to work singing throughout the show, even having the crowd harmonize a chorus with oldest, middle, and youngest siblings singing different parts. Between video interludes and performing songs from their new album, Lawrence had fun covering Sean Paulβs Get Busy, along with Queenβs Crazy Little Thing Called Love with Jukebox the Ghost. In the finale, Lawrence leaned heaviest into the family business theme, with Jukebox the Ghost and several crew members joining the 8-member band on stage for Whatcha Want.
Lawrence and Jukebox the Ghost continue their tour together this weekend before parting ways next week as Jukebox the Ghost tours the Midwest to promote their new EP. Lawrence will be joined by Lindsey Lomis for their shows out west, and Stephen Day for their northeast shows before heading overseas in early 2025.
